Nintendo Wii U

When the Nintendo Wii arrived in 2006 it was the most exiting console released in a long time, it saw grown adults jumping round rooms waving their arms around.

Nintendo have announced that the Wii U will be released late 2012. So how can Nintendo improve on the Wii? The most noticeable change will be the controller, forget the old controller and the nunchuck and think of a handheld console and you will have some idea of the new controller. The controller has a 6.2 inch wide screen.

The game is not just on the TV screen anymore, the controller screen will have different information contained on it, for example some games will use it as a map.

For single player games you will have different view points on the controller to the ones on the screen and on multiplayer games you can use the controller to your advantage as you will have a different experience to those who are looking at the TV screen. The controller also has an accelerometer and gyroscope and rumble feature.

The Wii U is similar to in size and looks to the Wii, The console itself is 1.8inches tall, 10.5 inches long and 6.8 inches wide so it is still very petit and takes up a minimum amount of space.

There will be multiplayer games and you can connect up to 4 controllers. The Wii U will be the first Nintendo console to be in beautiful high definition. It supports HDMI, s-video, composite and component cables. Supports 1080p, 1080i 720p, 480i and 480p.

The Wii U has internal memory but also accepts SD cards and has 4 USB ports it also has built in wifi so you can connect to the internet.
